3 Tractor Parts To Always Keep On Hand

Just like any machine, your tractor needs to receive routine and preventative maintenance. Even when you thoroughly inspect your tractor every day, some of the vital components could still stop working unexpectedly. If you use your tractor daily or on a regular basis, it's important to have certain parts on hand in the event that you need them for unplanned repairs. Be sure to stock up on the following parts to prolong the lifespan of your tractor.

1) Belts

Without a variety of different belts in excellent condition, your tractor's engine won't be able to run properly, and other elements will break down easily too. The belts you might need to replace at some point include fan belts, alternator belts, water pump belts, and air compressor belts. Any of these belts could deteriorate from extended use, and they could loosen or split when you least expect it. Since these belts are dependent on your particular tractor model, it's essential to have a few replacements ready in case an emergency happens. Before your tractor reaches 200 hours of operation, be sure to stock up on some extra belts.

2) Fuses and light bulbs

Most pieces of heavy agricultural machinery and equipment now rely on electrical parts to keep things running smoothly. Your tractor is likely no exception to this fact. A blown fuse is a quick fix, but it could put a damper on your work if you don't have a replacement part readily available. Fuses are usually identified by color-coded markings, so be sure to pick up the correct fuses for your specific tractor. You'll also need additional light bulbs in your inventory. Ignoring a burnt light could be a safety hazard, especially if the broken bulb is a warning light or taillight. For ease, you should store the extra light bulbs in an easily accessible location, such as the cab of your tractor.

3) Filters

When your tractor moves, it naturally runs through dirt, sand, and all kinds of other debris. As a result, the filters can get very dirty. A clogged filter will eventually affect your tractor adversely and cause avoidable downtime. You can prevent this problem by changing the filters regularly. You should have at least one of each of the following replacement filters in your toolbox at all times: air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, and hydraulic filter. It's also a good idea to pick up some additional oil and fuel filters because you will need to check them every time you change the fuel.

Being prepared with these extra tractor parts on hand will mean that you always have the components your tractor needs to remain in optimal condition.
